We have just started the participatory process for the purposes of the Flood Directive... we have actually started the part involving the institutions, and we have already encountered some difficulty, because, as you go down to the local level, it becomes harder to engage local stakeholders in these discussions. I’m aware of the fact that we need to improve the involvement process, since we haven’t so far achieved an effective response. Indeed, I think, it is absolutely essential. Municipalities and the local communities are those likely to be most affected. So we need to find a way to raise awareness at that level, because they are the key stakeholders. In spite of the clear indications deriving from the ICZM guidelines there has been no effective response by beach managers or by municipalities.
