There an important historical-artistic archaeological remains of a Roman Maritime Villa near Bocca di Magra with rooms on terraces degrading towards the sea. The Villa present a thermal implant with the "calidarium" room.
In the recent past Bocca di Magra was a famous meeting place for writers and intellectuals: Eugenio Montale, Giulio Einaudi, Cesare Pavese and Elio Vittorini used to live here during the summer.
